Author Guidelines

1. About the Journal

Zoological Records and Reviews is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality scholarly research in zoology and related biological sciences. The journal aims to promote the dissemination of original research, critical reviews, and scientific discussions that advance knowledge of animal biology, diversity, behavior, ecology, evolution, and conservation.

 

2. Types of Articles Accepted

The journal considers the following article types:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Short Communications
  • Case Studies / Field Reports
  • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

All submissions must present original work that has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.

 

3. Submission Process

4. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts. Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations, academic merit, originality, and ethical compliance.

The Editor-in-Chief holds final responsibility for acceptance or rejection.

 

5. Manuscript Preparation

5.1 Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek professional language editing prior to submission.

 

5.2 Manuscript Structure

A typical manuscript should include:

    • 150–250 words
    • Clearly state objectives, methods, results, and conclusions

6. Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be prepared in MS Word format
  • Use standard fonts (e.g., Times New Roman, 12-point)
  • Double-spaced text with numbered pages
  • Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively and cited in the text

 

7. Figures and Tables

  • Figures must be of high resolution and clearly labeled
  • Tables should be editable, not embedded as images
  • All figures and tables must include descriptive captions

 

8. References

Authors must ensure that all references are accurate and complete. Citations should follow a consistent referencing style appropriate for zoological sciences.

All sources cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa.

 

9. Ethical Considerations

Authors must adhere to high ethical standards and confirm that:

  • The work is original and free from plagiarism
  • All data are accurately presented
  • Ethical approval has been obtained for studies involving animals or sensitive biological materials
  • Conflicts of interest are fully disclosed

The journal follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

 

10. Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with significant overlap or unethical reuse of content will be rejected.

 

11. Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to:

Zoological Records and Reviews is a fully open access journal. All published articles are freely accessible immediately upon publication.

There are no subscription barriers for readers.

14. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Any applicable Article Processing Charges (APCs) are clearly stated on the journal website prior to submission. Editorial decisions are independent of payment.

The journal reserves the right to issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

 

16. Appeals and Complaints
